Louise and Emma, US Robotics
Team 2014, writes:
Our trip to the USA is only weeks away and we, on behalf of the two teams, would like to say that we are extremely excited (understatement still!). We leave on Wednesday 15 October for six action packed days of fun, relaxation and the International World Robotics Championship of course (as if it gets more exciting than that!). As much as we are all anticipating the fun aspect of the trip, the robotics matters a lot to all of us and we would be overjoyed to do well. We were all a bit taken aback, however, to discover that some of our competitors have 15 times our budget! We are extremely grateful to our sponsors—MBDA, Accolade Measurement, Communicator and ICE ICT Managed Services- though, as we have more funds than we could ask for. One of the most exciting parts of our trip is the day at an American school - we will be visiting Viewpoint High School for a day and even partaking in some American lessons. Another day will see us visit the Hollywood walk of Fame, Disneyland, as well as a day of shopping in one of California’s most popular shopping malls. The day of the competition will surely be tense, as we will be competing against previous winners and experienced teams. We hope to bring pride to Stanborough and put Great Britain into the limelight.
