Robot testing and Hollywood!
Day 2 we headed into Calabasas back to Viewpoint High School. Students were able to spend the morning in the Physics and Robotics lab testing their robots and making any last minute adjustments. They were amazed to see a full size pitch located in the classroom and were able to use this with their robots only for the second time since competing in Coventry.
After a busy morning Mr Benzid took some of the boys to muscle beach to stretch and flex their muscles!! They then followed this by a bike ride to Santa Monica. The rest of the group headed into Hollywood with Miss Burnham where they had a fantastic afternoon seeing all the celebrity houses, the Hollywood sign and Beverly Hills. The evening saw the whole group meet up together for a fun night at the Hard Rock Café. It was a fun filled, tiring day!

Coventry!
So, what is Jack thinking? |
Josh Wardle, member of Sterling Lions, writes...
On Friday 2nd October, both our two robotics teams (Sterling Lions and Sterling Sharks) headed off up to Coventry for the day to participate in the VEX Nothing But Net Coventry Regional Competition. The aim of the game is simple - to score the most points; by scoring balls into two nets. The competition was fierce - there were a few teams that had spent a lot of time on their robots, leading to a lot of very complex designs; despite this, both Stanborough teams made it to the semifinals, before being knocked out. This was an achievement, especially to Sterling Lions (the Year 10 team), because our robot continuously kept having problems throughout the day! Overall, we were all happy with the day, because it now allows us to improve our robot, ready for America!
